Everton’s friendly with Espanyol is still the best part of a week away - but Muhamed Besic is already relishing the chance to play at Goodison Park again. The Blues participate in Wayne Rooney’s testimonial on Wednesday evening before concluding their pre-season schedule with a home fixture against the Spanish side. Five of Everton’s six warm-up matches will have been away from home, with the varied selection of opponents so far including Barnsley, MK Dons, Dynamo Dresden and Real Betis. Manager Ronald Koeman also took his team to Austria last month where the players were involved in a training game against Czech side FK Jablonec. However, Besic says there is no place like home and he has been keeping one eye on next Saturday’s match against Espanyol, who finished in 13th place in La Liga last season. He said: “I’m looking forward to it because it’s been a long time since I played at Goodison Park. Hopefully we will get a win. “It’s the last game of pre-season and so it’s a really important one.” The match against Espanyol takes place exactly one week before the Premier league curtain-raiser against Tottenham Hotspur. Besic believes it’s important the Toffees get off to flying start in what will be Koeman’s first official match in charge. The Bosnian added: “The first game is always the most difficult. We have to get our confidence [in pre-season] so we can win that game. “To be fair, there are 37 matches after that but it’s always good to win that first game.”

I'd like to see the team play a full strength side. I know it's preseason but the team need to be practicing with the players that they'll be playing alongside.

It's been a boring frustrating 2 years at this club and our performance in Germany suggests things aren't going to change anytime soon. The fans are desperate for a new signing to lift their spirits and it would be fantastic to be able to play one or two new players in this game.

We'll probably sign that Villa player.
