I honestly don't care now. I don't care what anybody says mate - it's just a game of football so don't let it get you down. I had to take that in consideration last night when I was ill-wishing (if that's a word) Stones. I'm disappointed and a little bit of me wants him to fail spectacularly and end up at Charlton Athletic for the rest of his career but that would be letting my emotions get the better of me. It's only a game, Dorf.

No Complacency from Martinez.Everton boss praises enterprising Tykes ahead of cup clashRoberto Martinez knows there is no room for complacency on Wednesday evening when Everton begin their quest for glory in the Capital One Cup at Barnsley. The Spaniard insists his team have been handed one of the toughest draws of the second round after being paired with the League One Tykes. Barnsley’s start to the season has been relatively impressive, taking seven points from their opening four league fixtures. This early form, coupled with the style of football implemented by manager Lee Johnson, has Martinez believing that nothing other than a top performance will be required by Everton if they are to navigate into the next stage of the competition. “You need to be ready - you can’t go into any round thinking your league status gives you an advantage on the pitch,” Martinez defiantly declared at his pre-match media briefing. “The focus will be there and the understanding of who we are facing will be there. “Talking about winning a competition when you first go into it is a bit stupid but we need to make sure we are as prepared and as good as we can in order to progress.” The clash takes on extra focus given there could be potential returns to Oakwell for Everton defenders John Stones and Mason Holgate. Both players were 18 years old when they completed their transfers to Goodison Park, leaving Martinez praising the production line of young players at the Yorkshire club. “They do a terrific job with youngsters and give a really good education, so it’s no surprise why they have got such a young team,” added the manager. “We are expecting a very talented Barnsley team that looks after the ball well. It’s going to be a really good contest in that respect. “I’m looking forward to the game and the ex-players [Stones and Holgate] will be looking forward to re-living successful memories they had at that ground.”

This is how 'in touch with fans' our club are, as the title is their own, and when you consider many of us are fed up by his insistence on praising the opposition before a game it just underlines for me the naivety of the whole set up.
