Kathrine Møller Kühl - Midfielder

On Saturday 13th January 2024, Everton announced the signing of Denmark international Kathrine Møller Kühl, on loan from Arsenal, for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

An exciting young midfielder, Kühl moves to Merseyside a year on from making her Women’s Super League debut, while her temporary switch marks a reunion with manager Brian Sorensen.

The Blues boss handed the 20-year-old her senior debut when the pair worked together at FC Nordsjaelland as Kühl helped the side to Danish Cup success.

Kühl was the first signing of the January window for Everton and the young talent told evertontv she was honoured to join such a prestigious club.

“It feels really good to sign for Everton,” she said. “I’m really looking forward to this experience. Everton’s a big club and it’s a privilege to be here."

“My experience so far in the Women’s Super League has been really good. I feel I’ve learnt a lot having come from the Danish league to England. It’s a big step. It’s an enjoyable and competitive league, and I enjoy playing here."

“Everton felt like a good opportunity for me to come and play alongside some really good players and hopefully gain some minutes.”

Manager Sorensen is not the only familiar Dane in the squad as Kühl reunites with international teammates Katrine Veje, Karen and Sara Holmgaard, and Karoline Olesen.

Kühl expressed her excitement to link up with her former boss.

“Brian helped me a lot moving from youth football to going to the senior team,” she continued.

“He really helped me develop when I was in my younger years. He has been a big part of my journey so far and I’m looking forward to be working with him again."

“It’s a really nice feeling to work with a coach who believes in you. I feel that with Brian, and I’m really happy to be at Everton. I’ve spoken to a lot of people about the Club, and I’ve heard a lot of positive things.”

Looking ahead to the second half of the season, the midfielder hopes to help Everton reach their goals, while strengthening her own game.

“I hope to develop a lot in these next six months,” she added. “It’s a good way for me to develop certain aspects of my game at Everton. I hope I can get into the team, prove myself and help Everton grow. Hopefully that can help my own development at the same time."

“I’m really excited to be part of this group, it has a lot of potential. What I’ve seen so far is a really good team with really good qualities, and I’m looking forward to bringing some of mine to the team, too.”

After securing his first signing of 2024, Sorensen told evertonfc.com: “I know Kathrine very well and I’m super happy to sign her because she’s quality.

“I took Kathrine up from the academy at Nordsjaelland and gave her debut. We worked together for two-and-a-half years, she’s a very mobile player, very dynamic, good on the ball. It’s a good loan agreement as we sign a player who has strengths with through balls, her dynamics and the hard work she does off the ball."

“Kathrine just wants to play football and we will give her the platform to do that here. We have a quality team and I think she’s going to bed-in very easily. She’s a very technical gifted player and we can’t wait to begin working with her.”

Contracted until: June 2024.
