Flying winger Christian joined Everton on loan from Chelsea in August 2014.

He arrived from Chelsea having never played a competitive game for the Stamford Bridge outfit.

His career in Europe began when he joined FC Porto in January 2010, having been recruited from Cheetah FC in his homeland.

He starred for the Portuguese side’s youth teams and eventually forced his way into then-boss Andre Villas Boas’ thinking.

He spent the 2011/12 season on loan at Rio Ave, where he was the Club’s player of the season.

His performances saw him break into the Porto side the following season, when he made 17 appearances as they won the title. Christian also picked up Champions League experience that term.

His reputation growing, the jet-heeled forward was then signed by Chelsea and immediately loaned out to Vitesse Arnhem, where he was again voted player of the year by fans.

Christian is also a Ghana squad regular and started all three of his country's games at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

During his season with the Blues, he also helped the Black Stars finish runners-up in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and scooped the Man of the Competition and Goal of the Tournament accolade for a stunning long-range effort against Guinea in the group stages.

In total, Atsu made 13 appearances for the Toffees and provided one assist before his loan ended at the culmination of the campaign.

Christian unfortunately succumbed to the Turkish earthquake of February 2023 - Sincere condolences to all who loved him.
