Enner Valencia makes his first Premier League start for Everton against Arsenal. The Ecuadorian is one of four changes to the line-up that faced Watford on Saturday. There are also recalls for Phil Jagielka, Ross Barkley and Aaron Lennon. Ramiro Funes Mori, Gerard Deulofeu and Kevin Mirallas drop down to the bench, while Gareth Barry is rested. There is, however, a place on the bench for young striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has been in good form for the Club’s Under-23s side since his summer switch from Sheffield United. Speaking as the teams were announced, Koeman said: “I think it’s important that we are a good, compact team tonight and, in that way, this is the best 11, in my opinion. “Gareth Barry is okay, but he’s not the youngest player anymore. With a tough period coming up, I need to protect him. We’ve spoken about it and it’s no problem. “We know it’s a tough time and an even tougher time for Gareth. “We know if we start well, show a good level and good commitment then the fans will be behind us.”

I like that he's starting Valencia in a big match. Barkley back also, so a real chance for him to provide some service.
