Ashley Williams has been called up by Wales for next month's 2018 World Cup qualifier against Moldova. The Wales captain is one of a 23-man party who will kick off the nation's journey in the competition at Cardiff City Stadium on 5 September. Should Williams feature, he would earn his 66th cap for the Euro 2016 semi-finalists. Chris Coleman's side have been drawn in Group D of European qualifying for the tournament in Russia, alongside Moldova, Austria, Serbia, Republic of Ireland and Georgia. Wales, currently 11th in the FIFA rankings, will be looking to reach the finals of a World Cup competition for the first time since 1958. Everton

Chris Coleman has hailed Ashley Williams as an amazing signing for Everton and talked about how Blues supporters will love the 32-year-old.The ex-Swansea man made the move to Merseyside earlier this month after eight years with the South Wales club - and made his debut for the Toffees against West Brom on Saturday. His international manager believes that Williams will fit right in at Everton, and the qualities he possesses will make him a huge loss to Swansea in the upcoming campaign. Coleman said: “It's a fantastic signing for Everton. They love a player that plays with his heart on his sleeve and they'll get that with Ash on top of his qualities. “It’s disappointing for Swansea because they’ve lost one of the best players they’ve ever had.” Coleman also made clear that Williams moving to England would not affect his commitment to playing for his national side. The 32-year-old admitted that leading Wales to an amazing Euro 2016 semi final in France was the catalyst for him to think about a change in his club career. However, Coleman said that, wherever his international captain would be playing, he would always make himself available for Wales at a moment's notice. He said: "I know the man and it wouldn't matter if he was playing on the moon for someone – he'd be back here playing for Wales. "If Ash suggested that he's just played in a tournament and he's the other side of 30, I may have had it in the back of my head that he's looking to conserve some energy, but I've never had that with Ash." Williams already seems to have settled in to life on Merseyside well and has made two appearances for Everton since joining the club - with his first start coming in the 4-0 win over Yeovil Town in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night. Ashley Williams believes Ronald Koeman is one of the finest centre-halves to have ever played and hopes the Everton manager can help him bring his game to the next level. Wales captain Williams joined the Toffees last month in a £12m deal and started his first Premier League game on Saturday in the 1-0 victory over Stoke City. Koeman handpicked the 32-year-old to replace John Stones, who joined Manchester City in a £50m deal, and Williams is keen to learn all he can from the former Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona defender. "I am enjoying playing underneath him. As I said when I moved here he is one of the best centre-halves who ever played," Williams said. "I am going to be a sponge to learn off him and try and take in as much as I can of his knowledge. "When you go to a new place and you are the new boy you have to try to impress everyone and get your head down and start from scratch."

As long as they put a shift in I'm happy but leave it out with all the best that ever played rubbish. If they believe it that's alright but keep it to themselves. I can name loads of great defenders over the years I'd rate as better than Koeman. He's more remembered for having a shot on him.
