Teenager bagged two in the draw with Man City on Saturday to take his tally to 10 for the season

Goal-scoring midfielder Fraser Hornby is emerging as one of Everton under-18s’ most exciting prospects.

The 17-year-old has struck 10 times in 16 games for the Blues youngsters this season including a double in Saturday’s 4-4 draw with Manchester City.

Hornby was on course to claim a hat-trick at The Academy Stadium but his opening strike was later ruled as an own goal.

But his strike-rate remains impressive as the Scotland youth international begins to flourish under the guidance of Kevin Sheedy.

Hornby joined the Blues in September 2014 from Northampton Town as part of the Elite Player Performance Plan with Everton paying an initial £65,500 upfront.

The deal to bring Hornby to Goodison could ultimately be worth £1.3m with Everton having to pay £150,000 per every 10 Premier League appearances he makes, up to 60 games.



As part of EPPP, the Blues would then have to pay £100,000 every 10 games between appearance 60-100 if he were to become a first-team regular.

Hornby, who graduated from a scholar to a full-time player in the summer, opened his account for the season in the 3-1 defeat at home to Man City in August.

The teenager then grabbed a brace against Sunderland in the 4-4 draw in October before firing home four goals in the 5-2 thumping of Stoke City two weeks later.

Hornby rescued a point at home to West Bromwich Albion on November 5 and then struck twice in Saturday’s thrilling draw with leaders City.

Fraser’s older brother, Lewis, formerly played with Northampton but is now with Kettering Town.
