I judge players on each game and not really one for labelling them. Players at this level shouldn't have bad games. If they do that's what subs are for and the next player gets a go. I don't like it when players have guaranteed places. One or two positions need fair competition. Players at this level will ALWAYS have bad games, even Messi does! The trick is not to have too many, or for the manager to give you a time out if you do, or, as with Barkley, have a nightmare first half. Martinez would have stuck to the same team for at least 60 mins, so we have a refreshing change of approach, but my only nagging doubt is whether the tough approach with Ross will make him too scared to try anything and so lose his edge. We'll see. If that happens, then I'm afraid we transfer him he's not going to make it! Much of the problem with him is that he had been hyped far beyond his ability. Hes a good player but he's not world class by a long stretch.
