Everton in talks to sign Yacine Brahimi from Porto - Sky sourcesEverton are in talks with Porto about signing attacker Yacine Brahimi, according to Sky sources. It is understood the Toffees are very interested in the 26-year-old Algeria international and talks have progressed well. However, Sky sources understand convincing the player to make the move to Goodison Park is proving more problematic because his preference is a move to one of England's Champions League clubs. It is believed Brahimi, who has scored 21 goals in 77 appearances for the Portuguese club, already rejected a big money offer from China this summer, and Porto left him out of their Champions League squad in midweek. Everton are in the midst of a major recruitment drive following a change of ownership at the club, and have so far signed four senior players - Maarten Stekelenburg, Yannick Bolasie, Idrissa Gueye and Ashley Williams - and four youngsters. Sky sources understand they are also interested Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart and Sunderland centre-back Lamine Kone.

Why are we linked to Portugal players all window? I think a paper over there must be doing well out of us so every few days it makes another story up about us.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola say that Yacine Brahimi is likely to make a "dream" move for the English Premier League this week and that Everton are leading the chase for him. The Blues' interest in Brahimi was first reported by Sky Sports earlier this week but A Bola's suggestion is the first since then. They claim that Everton have offered €30m for the Algerian international but that Porto are demanding upwards of €40m to cover the fact that they only own half of the player's rights.
Assuming the interest from messers Koeman and Walsh is real and the fee isn't a stumbling block, Everton would seem to be in pole position for the 26-year-old. Arsenal were believed to be interested but their double swoop for Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi will likely preclude another big-money transfer to the Emirates this summer. Surely we won't get usurped by Arsenal again?
