Gylfi Sigurdsson: Midfielder signs new Swansea City contractIceland midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has signed a new four-year contract with Swansea City. Sigurdsson, who had two years of his current deal remaining, is in his second spell at the Liberty Stadium. The 26-year-old rejoined from Tottenham in July 2014 having spent a spell on loan with Swansea during the 2011-12 campaign. He was part of the Iceland team which reached the Euro 2016 quarter-finals, scoring one goal. Sigurdsson started his professional career at Reading and following loan spells at Shrewsbury Town and Crewe he joined German side Hoffenheim in 2010. He joined Swansea for the second half of their debut Premier League season in 2011-12 and scored seven goals in 18 games. Spurs paid Hoffenheim £8.8m for Sigurdsson July 2012 and spent two years at White Hart Lane before returning to Swansea for an undisclosed fee in July 2014. He scored nine goals during the 2014-15 campaign and netted 11 goals in 36 appearances last season.
