Even after Portugal reached the Euro 2016 final with a convincing victory over Wales, few people actually believed they could beat France, the tournament hosts, at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis last weekend.
Les Bleus were the overwhelming favourites to lift the Henri Delaunay Cup in front of their home fans, but Portugal - even without talisman Cristiano Ronaldo for most of the match - upset the odds and were crowned European champions for the first time in their history thanks to a goal from Eder in extra-time.
Incredibly, one football fan successfully predicted the exact outcome of the match and bagged himself a cool £1 million in the process. Daman Chick, a kitchen fitter from Birmingham, bet £5 with BetVictor that Eder would score the winning goal for Portugal in the 109th minute.
The 32-year-old placed this bet in the 84th minute of the match - the odds were still 14,322-1 - and didn’t know he’d become a millionaire until several days later.
