Thierry Henry rejects Arsenal coaching role to continue as TV pundit
• Henry, 38, offered Arsenal job by Arsène Wenger • Henry thought to be one of the top earners at Sky Sports Thierry Henry will not coach Arsenal’s under-18 side having opted to continue as a television pundit. The former striker had worked with the club’s academy players last season while working to gain his Uefa A Licence. The 38-year-old, who works on Sky’s Premier League coverage and also appeared on the BBC’s Euro 2016 output, was offered a role at Arsenal by Arsène Wenger but was told he would have to step down as a pundit. Henry, who is one of the top earners at Sky since, joined the network in December. Wenger has a history of helping his former players, with Steve Bould his assistant and Freddie Ljungberg working within the youth ranks. Mikel Arteta, who retired at the end of last season, is also believed to have been offered a backroom role but decided to work under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. The former Arsenal captain Tony Adams is believed to be set to return to the club on a permanent basis. The former Portsmouth and Wycombe manager, 49, had heart surgery last year and has already been working with Arsenal’s under-18s in recent weeks. Wenger has several television commitments but appears to be against members of his staff combining dual roles. Guardian

He must be getting a good deal being a pundit to turn a career at Arsenal down.
