Walker Secures England WinClaudia Walker scored her first goal for the England U-23s in a 1-0 against Sweden.Claudia Walker scored her first goal for the England U-23s against Sweden yesterday in the Nordic Tournament. Her first-half strike proved to be decisive as the Lionesses held on for a 1-0 victory at St George’s Park. Walker raced onto a loose ball outside the box and fired it into the top left corner to give the Lionesses the win. Speaking after her goal, Walker said: “It’s quite overwhelming really. I’m quite proud to have got my first Under-23s goal. “It just makes you hungrier to get some more goals. When you’re back at the club you want to keep up the good form, get some goals to my name in the league and hopefully keep getting the wins.” Walker was a late addition to the squad and after starting against Norway on Thursday, she has grasped her chance to impress. “I’ve just come in and enjoyed my football which has got me to where I am to focus on my own game which helps my form at the club. I’m happy to have got the opportunity and taken it. “I know some of them previously from the England U-19s but the older ones are a lovely bunch of girls too. They look out for us so it’s a really close group.” Another Blue Girl, Millie Turner also featured in the game and was a key part of the defence that kept a cleansheet.
