Magill Sets International RecordSimone Magill scored the quickest ever goal in International Women's football last night.Simone Magill got herself a piece of history last night by scoring the quickest ever goal in International Women’s football. The Everton striker scored after just 11 seconds to beat the previous record of 12 seconds set by Alex Morgan earlier this year. Magill’s strike is also the fastest goal by any male or female Northern Irish footballer. The bright start helped the team onto a 4-0 victory against Georgia and keeps their hopes of qualifying for Euro 2017 alive. Speaking after her achievement, she said: “I’m absolutely over the moon! I didn’t even realise at the time how quick it was. It was only after the game I got told how quick it was and that it beat all these records that I realised just how fast it was. “It’s an incredible feeling and probably the best start we’ve ever got off to in a game. I’m still trying to get used to it – it’s all over the newspapers and it will be a little stat that I’ll always remember. This was the latest goal for Magill after the striker scored four times in the opening six league matches for Everton. “I’ve been scoring quite regularly this season so to carry that through into my International games instils a lot of confidence in me. “To score a goal like that has come with a lot of hype so I hope to take all that back with me and do something similar with Everton in a couple of games. “I’m really looking forward to getting back with Everton and kicking the league off again to push on to what we want to achieve this season.” Elsewhere, Claudia Walker started for an England U-23 side against Norway in the Nordic Tournament. Beth England’s goal secured a 1-1 draw at St Georges Park with Lionesses winning 3-1 on penalties.
