1 weird looking line up today, Alcaraz in for his 1st start, Oveido at LM, Nais on right. No Barry, Howard, Jag out for month, Pienaar and Mirallas on bench

Well, that was a frustrating one from our perspective. JWP and Shaw underwhelmed. All credit to Seamus Coleman on his goal, no keeper in the world would have saved that it was inch perfect into the top corner but the way he outstripped Ward-Prowse in the build up was awful from our viewpoint. We greatly missed Wanyama and Schneiderlin, Cork laboured but wasn't enough to make a difference. It was a gamble sending Ramirez on, he has rarely looked on the pace of the Premier League but his talent showed today, that was one of the best goals we have scored for a while but what a pity we then switched off. The move for your winner was probably your best team move of the match. Lukaku was never going to miss from that position. I am happy though that we went to your ground, competed, looked more then capable of getting something out of the game and had it not been for that late penalty appeal (it was a handball.... well, these things ebb and flow over a season) then maybe it could be argued that we should have. (I'm not looking for agreement, don't worry. ) Fair play on the three points lads, you were superbly organised and efficiently did what was required today... see you at St Mary's in April!

Nobody disputes it hit his hand but the handball has to be deliberate and from that distance things happen too quickly for it to be a penalty and on this occasion I think it was the right decision.
I thought it was a great game of football overall with Everton probably just edging it over the 90 minutes and although nobody really deserved to lose I'm satisfied that our performance was enough not to feel lucky. The goals were amazing today and you won't see 3 better goals in one game. Saints looked very positive but didn't really have the end product to take the points. I thought they were a bit physical too in parts. Good team, but I think the best team over the 90 won and I don't think Saints can argue too much about that.
Mccarthy was a liability in that second half with too many mistakes and his pass to the Saints player was shocking. He made up for it in other ways but he needs to make sure when the pressure is on. One of the best teams we've played so far. Very similar to Hull when they came here.

Shaw is a good prospect but let's not get carried away fella. He's just a kid of 18 and his balls haven't even dropped yet. Fullbacks don't command anywhere near the price of strikers in the real world. Well, we've already rejected out of hand offers in the region of £15m. Yes, strikers get a lot more but we have put a very, very high price on his head based not just on his current/future ability, but also his critical role in our current system of play and future plans. We literally have no cover and who wants to play second fiddle to an 18 year old? If a club offer 15 million quid for an 18 year old you would be tempted to sell, as although the lad is a great prospect you won't get much more for him when / if he reaches his full potential and we would probably only get that amount for Baines who many rate as the worlds best left back. I enjoyed today's game and thought both teams were excellent and it was a real match. I'm now quite a fan of Southampton even if this thread has shown your forum to be a bit childish but that apart you have some really good players who will no doubt take you to the next level. Good luck for the rest of the league.
