Joe Williams and Antony Evans both made their first start in an England shirt on Easter Sunday, with the latter also weighing in with a goal on his full debut. The duo were named in the Under-20 and Under-18 squads for the March international break - the Academy graduates' first call-ups and deserved reward for impressive individual campaigns. Everton Under-21s skipper Williams started for the Young Lions in their friendly against Canada at Doncaster Rovers' Keepmoat Stadium and lasted 80 minutes. Unfortunately the 19-year-old midfielder couldn't mark his bow with a win, as the visitors emerged 2-1 victors. Defender Mason Holgate played the full contest, taking his tally of caps with the Under-20s up to seven. Evans, meanwhile, was handed a place in former Everton Academy coach Neil Dewsnip's Under-18s XI for a friendly against Republic of Ireland at St George's Park. Having been introduced as a substitute against Austria four days prior, the 17-year-old attacker took his new chance to impress from the off and provided the gloss on a 4-1 win with the final goal 12 minutes from time. Fellow Blues Tom Davies and Nathan Holland were both also involved for the Under-18s, who had former England midfielder Joe Cole assisting in the dugout. Midfielder Davies started the action before being withdrawn on 85 minutes, with winger Holland coming on for the closing stages.
