Everton Under-21s striker Sam Byrne faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his right leg in training on Thursday. The Irishman suffered the injury during a practice session and has already been operated on. “It was a freak accident,” said Under-21s coach David Unsworth. “The boys are all gutted for Sam because they are a close group and he’s a popular member of the squad. We will give him all the support he needs and I look forward to having him back amongst us as soon as possible.” The player will begin his rehabilitation at Finch Farm in the next couple of weeks.
