Joe Williams has revealed how David Unsworth has tasked his Under-21 side with lifting as much silverware as possible this season. The young Blues take on Brighton & Hove Albion at Southport on Tuesday with a place in the quarter-finals of the Premier League Cup at stake. Already through to the Lancashire Senior Cup final and the semi-finals of the Liverpool Senior Cup, the Toffees are also fourth and rising in the Premier League table. And while it is only February, captain Joe Williams explains how trophies have been talked about as real objectives. Ahead of Tuesday’s 7pm kick-off against the Seagulls, the 19-year-old told evertontv: “Unsy has told us about good groups where a few of them make it into the first team - they win things first. “We think we’re a good group and we have players who can make that step up. “Unsy has told us we should be challenging for trophies and we should be winning things – so no matter if it’s the Senior Cup, the league or the Premier League Cup, we’ll look to go far in them all.” The Under-21s are currently unbeaten in their last eight matches – winning six – and will look to add to that tally against Brighton before league clashes with Southampton and Middlesbrough later this month. That momentum, Williams admits, is driving the youngsters on in their quest for glory. “We want to keep kicking on. We want to win silverware and Unsy has set us the target of finishing in the top two in the league, so we want to get up there now. “We’re going to look to keep playing the way we’re playing and get this unbeaten run going a bit longer.” Season Ticket holders and FOREVERTON members can get free entry to Tuesday's match at Southport, with admission otherwise priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions.
