Fit-again striker Courtney Duffus has his eyes on silverware as Everton Under-21s prepare to battle it out with Accrington Stanley for a place in the Lancashire Senior Cup final. Duffus is in optimistic mood ahead of Wednesday evening’s semi-final at Southport after scoring an injury-time winner in last week’s 4-3 victory over Newcastle United. The 20-year-old missed the vast majority of 2015 after fighting back to fitness following a cruciate knee ligament rupture. He, like the team, has been in good form since making his comeback in November - eight months after suffering the injury last February. “The lads are all looking forward to this game,” Duffus told evertontv. “We all want to try and get some medals and trophies this year. It would be nice to get silverware. “Accrington will be a physical team and they will give us a good battle. We’ve got to match them and play our football.” Everton Under-21s made it through to the semi-finals after seeing off Blackburn Rovers in the last round, while Accrington progressed with a 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic. The other semi-final will be contested by Oldham Athletic and either Blackpool or Manchester United. Admission for Wednesday’s semi-final tie at the Merseyrail Community Stadium is free for Everton Season Ticket holders and Foreverton Members. Otherwise it is £5 adults and £3 concessions. There will be live updates on the Club’s official Twitter account and a match report will appear here on the official website shortly after the full-time whistle.

Good luck to our youngsters and hope they do well. It would be great to see them lift a trophy together again.

Everton U21s book place in Lancashire Senior Cup final with Accrington victoryCourtney Duffus' late goal seals 2-1 victory for David Unsworth's side Courtney Duffus' late header sent Everton under-21s into the final of the Lancashire Senior Cup. The Blues' second string trailed after just three minutes against Accrington Stanley in Southport tonight but levelled through Joe Williams before substitute Duffus grabbed the winner, nodding home Matty Foulds' cross. Everton had to survive a late scare when Callum Connolly was forced to clear Adam Morgan's acrobatic volley off the line with a header in time added on. But David Unsworth's side deserved their place in the Senior Cup final after a dominant display at the Merseyrail Community Stadium. Everton had gone behind to a third minute header from former Marine loanee Marcus Carver but the Blues dominated the first-half and mid-way through the opening period, found an equaliser. After Sam Byrne, Kieran Dowell and Joe Williams had all seen efforts saved by Accrington keeper Ross Etheridge, Williams made the breakthrough. Skipping past two challenges, the Blues' captain moved into the area and fired a low, right-footed drive past the visitors' stopper. Conor McAleny had the chance to make it 2-1 but, from a tight angle on the left, he fired straight at Etheridge. Everton continued to dominate after the break but were struggling to find the winner and a penalty shoot-out loomed. But from Foulds' excellent centre, Duffus headed Everton into the final. Echo
