We do not Choose we are Chosen. Anybody driving across country for games has to be applauded. Our away fans are fantastic. I totally agree

We do not Choose we are Chosen. It's like having a kind of syndrome from birth isn't it? A defect? Doomed to be ever in hope.

I disagree that we were playing ugly football under Moyes, and that seems to be a typecast that is very undeserved and totally inaccurate. In Moyes' final few years our football was very good, and let's not forget that he started with a very dire squad, and with no money, had to build a squad that would go on to challenge for European places. Martinez on the other hand inherited a quite excellent squad thanks to Moyes, and spent £28m on a striker, which such funding was unheard of under Moyes' reign, not to mention a list of transfers which have been very hit or miss. If Moyes' best team played Martinez' best team, I would put my money on Moyes' team winning every time. Are we really underachieving, or is it down to the fact that we hail our players as superstars that much that we start to believe our own hype? Exactly what Ross Barkley does that gets such praise I don't know, as he frustrates me most of the time, and Deulofeu has had some success with assists, but is fairly predictable for defenders, and cries like a baby everytime things don't go to plan. Stones is making mistake after mistake, as is Funes Mori, yet our luvfest bandwagon chooses to ignore any negatives, as that appears to be the Everton way. I don't think we are underachieving at all, instead I feel that we are being found out, that we are clearly NOT as good as we think. As for Martinez? Get shut on the first bus back to the Championship. Think we might have to agree to disagree on this one. Perhaps 'ugly football' was a bit harsh on Moyes, it was certainly 'effective' if not always thrilling. I've exciting memories of being lifted out of my seat by performances under Martinez, e.g. Newcastle and Arsenal at home in his first season, and me and pundits agree that his brand of football this year has also been exciting. But effective? No, not yet. And that has to change. As for Barkley, I think he's one of the best footballers in his generation, as is Stones, but they're both young and kids make mistakes. The key is learning from them. Give me a young learning side any day over an older, wiser, but side limited in its ability.

If we only lost to Leicester I could say that they are a great team and currenly in pole position so not the end of the world but it's every week it seems that we are banging our heads. We play good passing football because we practise it and teams allow us possession, but football is about scoring goals, not passing the ball. If our first thought is to pass, not shoot, then it will explain why good players are hesitant in front of goal. Their 3 goals all came from Everton mistakes and that is the hardest part to swallow especially when Lukaku is playing well. Agree to an extent. The issue for me (e.g. Norwich) is that we're not converting enough chances. The pass, or the hesitancy, never gets recorded as a chance, but those that are shots, misses, headers, etc, we're not converting enough of them. I think Mirallas and Naismith are two of our best finishers who are not getting a game, basically because one has been usurped by a limited but willing Kone, and Naisy who frankly isn't good enough in all round play. I'd start with Mirallas against Newcastle instead of Kone, and I'd give Geri a rest too - probably in favour of Lennon who has done well since he came here on loan last year. Not as exciting as Geri, but bring him on with 30 mins left if we need to. Have to use the squad now.

How do you manage to stay so positive Ross? You must really love the club driving such long distances to every game. My heart goes out to you and those like you. I thrive on positivity not negativity - in life, not just football! Negativity just sucks the life out of you if it's always like that. I do criticise, and I do see faults as well as positives, but my fundamental belief is that people, be they footballers or working on a checkout, or wherever, perform better if you focus on making even better what's good already, and yet not ignoring weaknesses. I've worked for people who sat me down for performance reviews and just told me everything that was wrong, and I said, "I thought this was a performance review - have I done anything good all year?" I would never work for someone like that. I think Martinez is a bit over the top with his eulogies of players and team performances, but the alternative could be someone like Mourinho who publicly slags off his players, and can't seem to manage a team for more than 2 or 3 years. Successful in some ways, not in others.
