Everton under-21s denied by late Tottenham Hotspur equaliserBlues second string held in Premier League fixture in SouthportMatty Foulds makes his Everton u-18s debut before even officially having signed EVERTON under-21s were denied by a late Spurs penalty on Monday night. The Blues second string had opened the scoring 10 minutes from time at Southport’s Merseyrail Community Stadium through Liam Walsh. But Spurs hit back straight away when Andros Townsend converted from the spot after Emmanuel Sonupe was fouled. Everton went close in the first-half through Sam Byrne, Tom Davies and Matty Foulds, who was playing his second game as a trialist before completing his move to the club in January. Mason Holgate also had a goal-bound effort blocked before Davies hit the post and Leandro Rodriguez, making his return from injury, headed over Foulds’ cross. The point leaves Everton in fifth place in the Premier League table with 14 points from their 11 games this term. David Unsworth’s side are next in action on Monday night when they face Newcastle United in the Premier Leaguer Cup (7pm) in Southport. LivEcho
