Substitute Calum Dyson nets hat-trick in Senior Cup win

Everton’s Under-21s romped through their Liverpool FA Senior Cup tie against Widnes at the Select Security Stadium as they secured a comprehensive 8-0 victory.

The big win against the North West Counties League First Division side came Just two days after the Blues Under-18s team lost 8-0 at home to their Wolverhampton Wanderers counterparts.

Sam Byrne put the visitors in front on seven minutes when he latched onto a through-ball by Antony Evans and fired past the keeper.

Eight minutes later the Blues doubled their advantage as Byrne combined again with Evans but this time it was the latter who supplied the finish.

Everton were 3-0 up on the 20-minute mark as Bryne turned provider for Conor McAleny to tap in from close range.

With 26 minutes on the clock Callum Connolly fired in a fearsome drive and he added his second and his side’s fifth before the interval when cutting inside from the left wing.

In full control at the break, Everton made a triple substitution with Donohue, Dyson and Charsley replacing Byrne, McAleny and Dowell.

However, they continued to punish their hosts in the second half as substitute Calum Dyson netted a hat-trick.

Within moments of entering the fray he scored with his first touch of the game when tapping in a Connolly cross.

He bagged his brace on 61 minutes, slotting past the keeper from Jonjoe Kenny’s pass and completed his treble three minutes later with a close range strike.
