Great article, most of which I agree with. Extremely disappointed with dropping points (again). Personally I blame 1/ The whole team for not defending properly and going for the kill at 2-0 up 2/ Martinez for making the substitution (officially 10 seconds to go but the sub adds min of 30 seconds on). 3/ The fans also have to bear some of the blame, they should not have been on the pitch giving the ref an excuse to add on whatever time he wants.(is that not a season long ban?) 4/ The ref. (Cos we all know all refs are sh%^t)
The good things to come out of it (with me being the eternal optimist) 1/ we didn't lose 2/ The players will be fired up for the match tomorrow.

With a cup game on Tuesday, you have to think there was a perfect opportunity to use all 3 substitutions, as firstly, it protected against a late injury, secondly, it may have invigorated our 2nd half performance, and thirdly, it would have rested a few important sets of legs. He didn't use subs at all for any beneficial / tactical reason, which I was angry about, especially as Bournemouth were starting to get on top. I can't blame the fans at all. They support our team through thick and thin, and the team on the pitch, combined with managemental decisions / tactics can only be responsible. Martinez is a very naive inexperienced manager, and that inexperience is a worry at this level.

Does he give youth a chance rosscrombie or is it just that he doesn't have a big enough squad of senior players when injuries come calling? My guess is that as soon as Baines is fit, it will be curtains for Galloway, and Howard and Barry playing, and Kone, are stopping younger players from getting game time despite them not being much cop. Certainly Baines will return, and we'll be better for it, as Baines offers more both in defence and particularly in attack; but he hasn't shuffled Barry in there, he's given Galloway a shout, and he's done well. Agree Howard has passed his sell-by, but massively disagree about Barry. He may be older, but he's in the right place more often than not; those that call for Mo and McC to be paired together seem to forget the chaos that there's been when they've played.

I think he's learning, and is far from the finished article. He's got some good ideas, he's a bit set in his ways, unusually for a young manager (young as in relatively inexperienced), and needs to develop more tactical options. Overall, his credit is above his debit for me, not by much, but enough!
