His international coaches say it could be a sprain and insist it is too early to know if he has ruptured ligaments. Amavi was hurt in France under-21's Euro 2017 qualifying victory over Northern Ireland. It has been reported on French newspaper website L'Equipe that he is being examined at Saint-Brieuc Hospital. France under-21 coach Pierre Mankowski said: "Doctors are trying to look after him. "According to the first information available it would be a knee sprain. "It is not yet known whether the ligament is ruptured. It's too early to tell." Amavi has been one of the claret and blues' brightest players, especially going forward, and was recalled to the starting line up for Sunday's Premier League draw with Manchester City at Villa Park. Twitter account Get French Football, which specialises in news about the French game, shared a photograph of Amavi.
