Howard Satisfied With Swans Shutout
Tim Howard earned his 112th league clean sheet for Everton in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Swansea City. Now level with Ted Sagar, only the legendary Neville Southall (197) and Gordon West (124) recorded better totals in royal blue. The shutout in South Wales was the Blues’ third of the season, with all three coming away from home. And the US international refused to be too downbeat not to return to L4 with the win despite the Toffees having the better openings at the Liberty Stadium. He said: "We had enough chances to win the game, but I think anyone will appreciate 0-0 away from home in the Premier League. We’ll take the point and feel good about ourselves. "Swansea were always going to be dangerous. Any side that keeps the ball and can have possession for long enough will create opportunities. We had to work to keep them out every now and again but I think we had the better chances but certainly Lukasz [Fabianski] was a lot busier than I was.” Attention now turns to Tuesday evening’s Capital One Cup third round tie at Reading. The Blues eventually triumphed 5-3 after extra time in the previous round at Barnsley and Howard says an extended period before their next game will ensure optimum effort in a competition which is absent from the Club’s honours list. "The manager seems to pick a strong team that wants to win the cup and we as a squad believe we can,” he added. “Obviously it’s important we get through a very tricky tie - Reading are playing well and they’ll be at home. "It’s going to be difficult for us but we don’t play again in the league until the following Monday, so it’ll be an opportunity for us to go there and have a good game."

Another 2 points dropped which we should be picking up. A good team will find ways to win but our team is an absolute patchwork of players out of position. We have 2 Central defenders playing at Fullback and 2 forwards playing attacking midfield. If Gibson is fit then play him and retire Kone as not good enough.
