Ferguson: I told Moyes to reject new Everton deal Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted he convinced Moyes into rejecting a new contract at Everton Former Manchester United manager ***** Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed he told David Moyes not to commit his future to Everton. Moyes, who went on to replace Ferguson at Old Trafford, contacted the 71-year-old in February to ask him whether he thought he should sign a new long-term deal at Everton. And Ferguson has admitted he told Moyes to reject a new deal in hope that the 50-year-old would land a role at a 'bigger club'. Ferguson, who has just published a new autobiography, said on his conversation with Moyes: “He (Moyes) phoned me around February for some advice about his contract, they were pushing him to sign a new contract. “I knew in myself I was going to retire, so I’m thinking if he signed a contract it would be more difficult for us. “I said to him you’ve had 10 years there that’s long enough, you’ll get a bigger club. “I kept phoning him to make sure he wasn’t going to sign a new contract. “We had to wait until the league was decided, once the league was decided I got David over to the house and I think he thought we were going to talk about his contract again, but I said look I want you to take over.” Manchester United went onto appoint Moyes on May 9 after the board unanimously backed Ferguson's decision for the Scotsman to take over the Old Trafford reins. Moyes has since struggled to adapt to life at the Premier League champions, with United winning just three league games out of a possible eight. Source: givemesport

It's nothing we didn't already know if we're honest. I can't stand the man. We should be able to put a complaint in to the FA for tapping up. It shows just how high Moyes was when Ferguson said jump. The annoying thing is that Ferguson appears to have jumped ship, rather than retire. Moyes will be feeling the pinch from both sets of fans, but you lie in the bed that you make.

He makes it sound like he was Moyes boss and commanded Moyes to not sign. He should realise nobody likes him and piss off back to Scotland. His "I'm Scottish" jibe so couldn't take the England job was a joke when you consider he has been employed by an English club in an English league in England.
In typical English fashion we giggle and ignore it. I'd like to see what would happen if an English manager running a Scottish club said the equivalent.
