Everton’s Under-18s began their season with a superb 3-1 win at Manchester United on Saturday. Nathan Broadhead’s first-half penalty brought the young Blues back on level terms after Callum Gribbin had given the home side the lead direct from a debatable free-kick. Broadhead converted after Michael Donohue had been felled in the box. After the break Everton imposed their dominance and Broadhead turned provided as the Blues took the lead through first year scholar Danny Brammall with a smart left-foot finish. And just five minutes later Donohue got his name on the scoresheet as well as he raced clear from half way before cutting in and planting home with his left foot to seal victory. Coach Paul Tait told evertonfc.com: “We were unlucky to be behind with their goal coming from a free-kick that our keeper was a bit disappointed about. “At half time we spoke about imposing ourselves more, stretching them in behind and using the wide players and in the end that paid off. “We could have got five, six or even seven goals, it wouldn’t have flattered us.” Everton: O’Loughlin, Mellen, Bainbridge, Yates, Yarney, Broadhead (Feeney), Donohue, Kiersey, Brammall (Morris), Holland (Lees), Baningime.
