Glen Johnson signs for Stoke City on two-year deal Glen Johnson has joined Stoke City on a two-year deal, the club confirmed on Sunday. Johnson left Liverpool at the end of June following the expiry of his contract, and has signed for the Potters, subject to the club "finalising formalities". The 30-year-old former West Ham United, Chelsea and Portsmouth right back has made 54 appearances for England, but has not featured since the World Cup last year. He has flown to Singapore to join his new team-mates ahead of the Barclays Asia Trophy pre-season competition next week. Speaking from their tour of the Far East, Stoke boss Mark Hughes said: “Glen will be a fantastic addition to our squad. "He commanded a huge transfer fee when he left Portsmouth for Liverpool but dealt with the pressure that comes with that. “He’s a talented defender who also chips in with goals - as we discovered last season when he scored the winner against us at Anfield.
