Steven Pienaar has been ruled out for up to a month with his hamstring injury.
Pienaar missed Everton's great win over Chelsea on Saturday with the injury he sustained in training and the Blues medical team feel he will not be back until the middle of next month.
The South African winger is expected to miss Everton's trips to West Ham and Manchester City, their home game with Newcastle and their Capital One Cup tie against Fulham.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez said: "I think Steven Pienaar is going to be a little bit longer, it's a grade-one soft tissue problem."
The Toffees head to Upton Park this Saturday as only one of two unbeaten teams in the Barclays Premier League.

It will probably do us good to be forced into a formation without him in terms of giving Martinez a good chance to look at our other players, but we really need him to be back before the City game, as we can't field Barry. Still a big player for us I feel.

Hopefully Gibbo will be back by then. We need him back sooner rather than later
