Romelu Lukaku has set his sights on success at Everton in a season he describes as the most important in his career to date.
The Belgian international enjoyed a goal-laden loan spell at West Bromwich Albion last season, firing the Baggies to a top-half Premier League finish with his 17 strikes.
He admits he felt he deserved a chance to prove himself at parent club Chelsea.
But now he deems it most important to prove to everyone - himself included - that he can become an even more potent striker than he has shown in his two previous years in English football.
And he believes he can deliver that proof by helping Everton to tangible success this term.
"It was my choice [to go out on loan] because I wanted to play as much as possible," Lukaku said at his official media unveiling.
"There's a World Cup coming and I want to confirm the year that I had last year. I don't want people to remember Romelu Lukaku of West Brom and me being in the background again.
"You always need confirmation after a good year so people can take you seriously, because after one good year people won't take you seriously if you don't do it the next.
"I always look at consistency because great players are always consistent and that's what I'm aiming at. If I do well this year people will take me seriously."
Around a manager he described as one who will give him ‘confidence', Lukaku insists Finch Farm and Goodison Park is the perfect setting to reach the next level in his development.
The 20-year-old could make his debut at Upton Park against West Ham this Saturday and has already been hugely impressed by the calibre of his new teammates
He continued: "Everton is a good team with experienced players and it's a team who are always around the top six.
"The players' quality is very high and what I expected. Technically the majority of the players are very strong, there is a good mentality as everyone wants to work hard and everyone wants to win. That's what keeps us going.
"We have a big squad and a lot of players who can do a lot of damage in this league, so they are expecting a lot of things.
"I'm very focused, I'm grounded and I know what to do to be successful, so I'm ready."
