We will be getting the inside track from the Blues squad for every day of the Dallas tour. Today it's the turn of goalkeeper Mateusz Hewelt, who talks us through the journey to America and his first impressions of the surroundings in Texas. We were up early on Thursday morning to meet at Finch Farm for 4am, then we drove to Manchester airport. It was hard getting up so early because I’d not had much sleep, but it’s obviously worth it to come here to Dallas. We flew from Manchester to London, which was over before we knew it - but then we had a few hours to wait in the airport and a long flight to Dallas. It took us nearly 10 hours and I couldn’t really fall asleep, so I watched a couple of films. The Theory of Everything was by far the best and I thought it was a really inspiring to see the way Stephen Hawking has carried on throughout his illness. The hotel we are staying in is fantastic. It’s a really big place and the rooms are really nice so it’s going to be a good base for us. I am rooming with Ciaran O’Loughlin. I always room with him because we are both goalkeepers and I suppose we stick together! He’s a good lad to stay with and we have good banter when we’re together. After we arrived, we went for a short run to stretch our legs after the full day of flying. It’s a nice place and I think we are all looking forward to using the great facilities. One of the first things you notice out here it the heat. It can be tough - but I’m sure we’ll adjust to the conditions in time for the first game against River Plate on Sunday.
