Palace visit the Potteries in reasonable form but with a largish list of absentees: Jedinak, Mutch, Puncheon, Chung-Young, Campbell and Williams. The game at Selhurst earlier this season was one of the most lacklustre affairs I've seen in years, a 1-1 which was over as a spectacle before the hour mark....everybody being happy with a point and getting off the pitch in one piece. I'm hoping to see Chamakh start today and Murray. These two up front together have the guile, experience and physical presence to upset any defence but have had very few minutes of shared game time so far. Not expecting many goals nor much of a spectacle. Palace don't have a particularly good record against Stoke or against Mark Hughes but 3pts today would see us virtually safe so perhaps we've a little more to play for than them. So, three good reasons to beat 'em today: Putting one over on Mark Hughes Getting a third PL season secured Preventing Boredom

Well. whaddya know? Half time sore: Stoke City 1 - 2 Crystal Palace
Two goals from the Eagles late in the first half, a Murray Penalty after Bolasie drew a foul from the Stoke keeper and then a Zaha run onto Murray's lay-off for the second. A surprisingly enjoyable and well contested game - although Stoke seemed to lose their cool in the last ten minutes...not surprisingly partly due to some firm Refereeing, definately firm and not at all biased. I can say that as the Ref a notorius 'Homey'.

And that's how it finished, 1-2. Some days it's hard to pick any single player out and today was one of those days for all the right reasons. An excellent team performance from Palace. Top picks? Murray, Bolasie, Speroni probably. It wasn't plain sailing by any means, Palace survived a deluge of corners and a possible Penalty and were helped by some poor finishing from Stoke but equally Palce had more than enough openings to have made this game less of a nail-biter. Against all the odds, an enjoyable trip up the M1.
