Premier League side Everton have made an offer for Hellas Verona’s 21-year-old midfielder Jorginho. The Brazil born midfielder joined the Gialloblu from Sambonifacese in 2011 and has since greatly impressed with the Bentegodi based side and drawn interest from both Merseyside clubs and he also earned a call up to the Italian under-21 side. According to Sportitalia, the Toffees have made an offer of €9 million for Jorginho which includes a clause that will give the Scaligeri 20 per cent of any future sale. The versatile deep-lying playmaker was reported to have been the subject of a bid from Everton’s local rivals Liverpool in early July, although the interest from the Anfield club appears to have fizzled out, putting Roberto Martinez’s side in pole position to secure Jorginho’s signature. The highly-rated youngster was an instrumental part of Verona’s push to promotion during the 2012-13 Serie B season and featured 41 times. Verona have stated that the player is not for sale as they attempt to survive in their first season back in Serie A but it remains to be seen if their resolve will be tested by Everton’s latest bid.
