Everton have boosted their strikeforce with the signing striker Arouna Kone on a three-year deal. The Ivory Coast striker joins from Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee. He scored 13 goals for the Latics last term but now joins up again with Roberto Martinez after the Spaniard became Everton manager earlier this summer. Martinez signed Kone from La Liga side Levante in 2012 and the powerful frontman quickly adapted to the Premier League with some muscular displays. The 29-year-old has scored goals wherever he has been, having also played for Belgians Lierse SK, Dutch outfits Roda JC and PSV and Sevilla in Spain. He has played his part in three African Cup of Nations campaigns and was also selected for the World Cup in Germany in 2006. Having played international football at the end of last season Kone is set to link up with his new teammates later this month. OFFICIAL - evertonfc.com

Pleased about this. Not a marquee signing but good strong player.
