Swansea City have confirmed the signing of the defender Kyle Naughton from Tottenham Hotspur. The 26-year-old full-back, who can operate on either the right or left side of defence, has signed a three-and-a-half year contract in a deal understood to be worth £5m and could make his debut in Swansea’s FA Cup fourth-round tie at Blackburn on Saturday.Naughton made 74 appearances for Tottenham after joining from Sheffield United in 2009 but he made only five Premier League starts under Mauricio Pochettino and has not played since the end of November. The Sheffield-born England Under-21 international is Swansea’s third signing of the January transfer window following the arrival of the Benfica striker Nélson Oliveira on loan and midfielder Matt Grimes from Exeter City. Naughton began his career with Sheffield United, having joined the club’s academy at the age of seven, and made 40 appearances before joining Tottenham. He has had loan spells at Middlesbrough, Leicester City and Norwich City. The Swansea manager, Garry Monk, said he had been trailing the defender for some time. Source: Guardian
