Dutch international midfielder Leroy Fer says that he is still open to a move to Everton this summer. Leroy Fer: Could be heading to Merseyside this summer
The Merseyside club were thought to be on the verge of signing the 23-year-old from FC Twente in January but the deal collapsed due to concerns over a persistent knee problem. However, Fer claims that Everton have remained in contact and that he could still make a move. Fer told Volkskrant: "Everton has done nothing wrong. "During the second half of the season, they have always kept in touch with my agent. I'm still always open for a transfer to Everton." Fer has made two appearances for the Dutch national side. Fer: Knee stories were nonsense June 20, 2013 Leroy Fer EvertonOne-time Everton target Leroy Fer has claimed that stories that he failed a medical with the Blues because of a knee problem were nonsense. The Twente midfielder was subject to a late offer from the Blues in the January transfer window, but several reasons for it’s breakdown surfaced when he failed to sign at Goodison Park. Some sources claimed his knee was a concern for the Blues, a story which spread quickly and stories that he has a long-term knee problem still haunt Fer though, and he wants to set the record straight. “Everyone knows what happened in the winter is at FC Twente,” said Fer. “I was happy to go to Everton. The story of my knee is complete nonsense, I’ve played through everything after the winter. “Of course the failed transfer did something to me, I just do not trust anyone anymore. Everton coach David Moyes has tried to pick me up. He is now at Manchester United. “Now it remains to be seen. I have two seasons at FC Twente and it’s not a punishment to play football there. If anything comes up, we will look.” Source: NSNO
