Matthew Pennington made his debut for Coventry City in a resilient 0-0 draw with Walsall at the Ricoh Arena. The 20-year-old defender, who had only trained with the Sky Blues for one day before going straight into the squad, completed 90 minutes at right-back for the League One outfit. Speaking after the game, Pennington said he was delighted to mark his first appearance with a clean sheet but felt the hosts were unfortunate not to take all three points against the Saddlers. He said: "I really enjoyed my debut. I'm really glad to get out and play some Football League games in some competitive fixtures. "I'd like to get a consistent run of games whilst I'm here and I'm glad that the club came in for me as it will be a great experience. "I thought we played well today but couldn't put our chances away. It was frustrating but that is football." There was also good news for Connor Hunt, who helped Hyde into the FA Trophy first round proper after a stunning 4-3 away win over Tamworth. The Tigers left it late as skipper Alex McQuade notched a stoppage-time winner to ensure progression into the next stage of the competition. And Hunt played his part with a string of saves, including a fantastic stop to deny Shane Clarke from five-yards out with the scores locked at 1-1. Elsewhere, Matthew Kennedy was an 84th-minute substitute as Hibernian came from behind against Championship rivals Alloa to seal a place in the fifth round of the Scottish Cup. However, it was a disappointing weekend for John Lundstram and Hallam Hope – neither of whom were involved in their side’s games in the Championship and League Two respectively.
