Everton Under-21s defender Bradley Moonan has signed his first professional contract, penning a two-year deal until the end of June 2026.
The 18-year-old centre-back joined the Blues Academy as an Under-8, progressing through the ranks at Finch Farm, before debuting for Everton Under-21s during 2023/24.
Moonan – a lifelong Evertonian – featured in 21 league games for the Under-18s last season, while also recording eight Premier League 2 appearances with the Under-21s.
After signing his maiden professional deal, he told evertontv: “My whole family are Everton born and bred so it’s a massive achievement to sign a professional contract at this club.
Play Video “I’ve been at the Club now for going on 11 years so I basically grew up here. It’s like a second home.
“I’ve developed a lot as a player and a lot as a person. They say it’s the People’s Club and it’s true. It’s a family club.”
Moonan believes he made positive strides last season, working with Under-18s Head Coach and former Blues defender Leighton Baines.
As a keen Everton fan, Moonan cherished the opportunity to learn from Baines, and the centre-back hopes to emulate some of the Toffees’ finest defenders.
“At the start [working with Baines] was quite overwhelming because I was three years old with a season ticket watching him play not that long ago. So having Leighton – such an experienced player – was very good to help my development.
“The people I look up to are the centre-halves at this club. Obviously, you see Jarrad (Branthwaite) and how well he did last season. Players like Phil Jagielka who have played for and captained the Club, are players I want to be like.”
Everton Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, said: “Bradley’s been at the Club for more than 10 years and we’re encouraged with his development in our Academy.
“He had a beneficial season last time out, working with both our Under-18s and Under-21s, and we look forward to seeing him continue his progression in the upcoming campaign.”
