Everton Ladies General Manager Aaron Little insists the Club are committed to bringing in a Head Coach who "embodies Everton's values". The following will appear in Sunday's matchday programme, in which Little reveals an insight into a "difficult time" for the Club and what he hopes to find in a new appointment. It has been a difficult time for everyone at Everton after the departure of Head Coach Andy Spence. I’d like to take this opportunity to place on record the Club’s sincere thanks to Andy for the work he has done over the past 12 years. When working as assistant manager under Mo Marley, the Club won the 2008 League Cup and the 2010 FA Women’s Cup, and after he assumed the role of Head Coach, he guided us to the 2014 FA Women’s Cup final and lifted the 2017 Spring Series title, culminating in him being named FA WSL Coach of the Year. As I write these notes, the search for a new Head Coach is well under way and we know exactly the criteria we are looking for. The successful candidate must drive the Club forward and create a winning team, but they must also ensure that the long-term development of the Ladies team can be sustained. We have some fantastic players, many of them younger talents, in our squad and any Head Coach at this Club will need to push them on. We are looking to appoint someone who has worked at the highest level, to the highest standards and who has a track record of winning games and bringing through youth. But, crucially, any successful candidate must respect, promote and demonstrate our Everton values and who we are as a football club. That is vital for us, we want somebody who embodies Everton, the work we do within our community and the impact we have on football. While we recognise the need to make a swift appointment given where we are in the season, we are committed to ensuring we get this decision right and will leave no stone unturned in our search for a new Head Coach. In the meantime, Jen Herst has stepped up as interim Head Coach and she will be supported by wider club staff at Everton. Our objectives remain the same – to win games of football and move us up the table as quickly as possible. Everton FC
