Everton Ladies Sign England Under-20s Forward CainNineteen-year-old vows to provide goals and creativity.
New Everton Ladies forward Hannah Cain believes she has joined the ideal club for her to flourish as she vowed to provide goals and a creative spark for the Blue Girls.
The England Under-20 international, who also revealed Everton Ladies boss Andy Spence was a big factor in her decision to move to Merseyside, has moved to the Toffees after her former club Sheffield FC Ladies withdrew from the FA Women's Championship because of financial problems.
A skilful, pacey forward with an eye for goal, 19-year-old Cain says she knew Everton was the perfect place for her to continue her impressive development after spending a week training with the Blue Girls squad during pre-season.
Boss Spence was suitably impressed with the youngster’s efforts to offer her a contract. And Cain she says she is raring to go as a fully-fledged Everton player in WSL 1.
“I’m absolutely buzzing to get started,” she told evertontv. “It’s my first professional contract and there’s nowhere I’d rather be.
“When I came into the train for a week, I got a feel of the environment and the training facilities – the place is amazing.
“It helped that I knew a lot of the girls anyway but as soon as I got here I settled straight away, all the girls made me feel welcome. One of the girls said, ‘It feels like you’ve been here before!’. It was just a natural environment to be in.
“And Andy is a great manager and we had a lot of banter in training. I get on with him well.
“I want to bring as much as I can to the squad.”
Cain is currently recovering from an injury which ruled her out of the U20 Women’s World Cup, which kicks off in France on August 5.
While admitting finding out she was going to miss the tournament “felt like the end of the world at the time”, she says sealing a move to Everton has proved the perfect tonic.
“It’s a big moment [to sign for Everton],” she explained. “It’s what every girl who plays football dreams of as a youngster, to be a professional. It’s been a long time coming. It’s amazing
“On the pitch, I’d say I’m quick, I’m direct and I’m quite creative. So, if we need a spark in the game, I’d like to think I can bring that.
“I feel like I’ve got a lot to offer, so hopefully this season I can show that and score lots of goals and win lots of games.”
