Everton Ladies Head Coach Andy Spence was pleased to see his side secure an FA Women’s Cup quarter-final tie away to Durham after a “professional” performance overcame Lewes on Sunday.Goals from Chaney Boye-Hlorkah - who netted a first-half hat-trick - Chloe Kelly, Dan Turner and Megan Finnigan ensured a 6-0 success over the Toffees’ FA Women’s Premier League South opponents at the Dripping Pan. Spence was particularly pleased to see Boye-Hlorkah and Finnigan on the scoresheet. The former, just 22, has gone from strength-to-strength this season after making her return from a cruciate ligament injury during the Spring Series, and was back in a more familiar role on the right of the front three after playing in defence in recent weeks. Boye-Hlorkah made the most of the opportunity; with three close-range finishes helping the Blue Girls take a commanding 4-0 lead at the break. Finnigan then powered home a header late on to net her first senior goal for the Club. “I’m really pleased for Chaney,” Spence told evertonfc.com. “A hat-trick for her is brilliant and shows her quality. She has played a number of games at full-back this year but after scoring three goals I’m sure she will be telling me she is a forward again now! “She is a good, young player who has obviously missed a lot of football and I think people sometimes forget that she is coming up to 23 years old. She is still young in terms of experience but we know she threatens both ends of the pitch. “We are all delighted for Meg, too – at last she has managed to stick that big head of hers on a cross and score! It was a great header and the delivery from Siri [Worm] was excellent. [Assistant] Martin Ho does a lot of work with our set pieces and it’s always great to see them come off on matchday. “On top of both Chaney and Meg, you have Chloe adding to her tally for the season and Dan chipping in as well. It’s great to see so many different players bringing goals to the team. “It was a professional job. This was the customary banana skin or potential giantkilling – whichever way you want to look at it – but we wanted to make sure we had the game won in the first 20 minutes. I felt that if we started the game like we do regularly in WSL 1 then we could get those early goals, and it was good to see that play out.” Everton Ladies now face a trip to WSL 2 side Durham Women, with the tie to be played at their New Ferens Park home over the weekend of the 17/18 March.
