Siri Worm says there is room for improvement after enjoying her first taste of English football with Everton Ladies against Liverpool. Everton began their WSL 1 season with a 2-0 defeat at the hands of their Merseyside rivals, with Worm one of seven debutants in the side. Worm was thrilled to make her Blue Girls bow in such a tough fixture, and the defender believes there is more to come from her and her teammates. “We can take confidence from the performance,” she told evertonfc.com. “We analysed the game and we picked out some good things, some bad things. I think we know that we can be better. We know what we can show, and in the next game [against Birmingham on Sunday] we want to show how good we are. “We have to be braver. We didn’t show how good we can be but I think for the first game in the competition - and in a derby – Liverpool is a difficult game. The goals weren’t great from them and we know we can do better. “When we get more comfortable on the ball and play more like we know we can then I think we will improve and win games.” Worm, and Dutch compatriot Marthe Munsterman, both arrived from FC Twente in Holland over the summer and have adapted well to their new surroundings – so much so that Worm has picked up a couple of Scouse phrases. The duo have been made to feel welcome by the Toffees squad and are enjoying their experience in England so far, especially when they can see that it will help improve their game. “It’s a very good experience because it’s a lot different to Holland,” added Worm. “The way of playing and the mentality is new but I like it and it’s good for me to be here because the things that I need to improve, I can do it in this league. “I think every opponent is hard, you have to work hard every game and in every training session but that’s good. “Marthe and I have been here for two months now, and I think we are part of the team. It feels like a family, everyone wants to help you, it’s a good group and we work for each other. “My English has improved and I’ve even started using some Scouse words like ‘that’s boss’ and calling people ‘la’! “It’s been great to learn about Liverpool and the language with the help of the girls – and they’ve even asked about a few Dutch words as well!” Everton FC
