Young footballing females took to the home of the Blues this summer to learn some top tips from Everton Ladies players and staff. Alongside Head Coach Andy Spence, the whole squad joined more than 200 girls aged five to 15 at the Academy Experience Day for an afternoon of football fun. Participants were offered age-tailored sessions with Academy coaches, helping them to master basic skills and learn how to improve their game through defensive and attacking drills. Skye, age 11, attended the Academy Experience Day with her team, as part of the Sister Club package. She said: “It was an amazing day. My favourite part was playing in the matches and having a first team player apart of my team and coaching me throughout. I can’t wait until next time.” Marthe Munsterman, Everton Ladies midfielder, added: “Meeting the youngsters at our training ground was really special. We’ve been working hard all summer to prepare for the new season so, to take a small break and have fun with the kids, was amazing. “Although women’s football is growing year-on-year, we’re still facing the challenge of getting youngsters involved. We hope that, by meeting us today and learning from professional coaches, they’ll be bitten by the football bug and go on to play for many years to come.” Everton Ladies are in action tonight, as they travel to Arsenal for a friendly. The Blue Girls will open their competitive season on Friday 22 September, live on BT Sport at 7:45pm Everton FC
