Everton Ladies have swooped to sign England Under-23s midfielder Jodie Brett from Chelsea.Brett, 21, came through the ranks at the London club since the age of nine and spent last season on loan in WSL 2 with Bristol City. That deal was later extended through the recent Spring Series. But she has now penned a two-year deal with the Blue Girls and is looking forward to taking on a new challenge. “The move has come around quite quickly and I am really delighted to be here,” she told evertontv. “I can’t wait to get started. “I know a few of the girls already from playing with England and I have met a few of them as well. Everyone has made me feel really welcome. I’m buzzing to start pre-season in August and meet the rest of them. “I am looking to add to the environment here. As a player I hope to bring creativity on the pitch but off it I want to show my character. Hopefully I can do my bit to help the Club go forward.” Brett intends to play her part in helping Everton achieve their ambitions, and admitted it was the Toffees’ plans for the future that enticed her to swap London for Liverpool. She joins international stars Angharad James, Lizzie Durack, Siri Worm and Marthe Munstermann in joining the Toffees and can’t wait to get the 2017/18 season underway. “Everton as a club are very ambitious and hopefully I can add to that while I am here,” she added. “I am looking forward to it. I’m new coming into the group but there are a couple of others as well, especially in midfield. For me it is a new challenge, a new step in my career and I can’t wait. “There is competition in the squad and that’s healthy. Hopefully we can challenge each other and kick each other on.” Everton FC
