'Let's Win Title In Style'Brougham calls on Everton Ladies to clinch Spring Series with victory. Georgia Brougham has vowed Everton Ladies “won’t be taking their foot off the gas” as they look to clinch the WSL 2 Spring Series title this weekend. The Blue Girls head to London Bees on Saturday (4pm kick-off) knowing a point from their final match of the season will be enough to win the division. That would provide a huge boost to Andy Spence’s side ahead of the start of their full WSL 2 league campaign in September, when they bid for promotion to the top tier. But despite already having one hand on the Spring Series silverware, Brougham insists the Toffees cannot afford to take it easy, especially with so much competition in the squad. “We won’t take our foot off the gas,” said the defender, who signed from Manchester City Ladies in February 2016. “We know we’ve got to get another three points whether we’ve won it or not. We want to finish on a high and we want to finish with a win. “We know we have a strong bench and that there’s competition for places this season. Everyone can come on and make an impact. Aileen (Whelan) coming on and scoring her first goal against Watford shows what quality she has and what she can bring to the team. “When you want to be at the top level, there’s going to be competition for places. Everyone’s got to work hard and they all know that so if you come on and make an impact, you are getting in the manager’s head.” Brougham opened the scoring in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Watford Ladies at Goodison Park, an occasion the 20-year-old described as “amazing”. Her 18th-minute header set Everton on their way to another three points from a campaign which has seen the league leaders win six and draw one of their eight matches to date. “We knew Watford would give us a good test but the main aim was just to get three points on the board again and get one step closer to the Spring Series title,” added Brougham. “It was a big occasion coming to Goodison. We had more fans, our families were here and maybe the occasion got to us early on but we had a chat at half-time and knew we had to settle down and play our normal game and that’s what we did in the second half. “It was amazing. Everyone dreams to play at these stadiums and we got the chance to do that. I love to get the ball down and play. The pitch was beautiful so I was able to do that.”
