Walker Enjoying Magill Link-UpForward delighted strike partner has committed future to Blue Girls Claudia Walker is relishing the chance to continue working alongside Simone Magill after her strike partner signed a new deal with Everton Ladies. The Northern Ireland international has committed her future to the Blue Girls until May 2018, much to the delight of fellow forward Walker. The pair have been in lethal form for the Toffees so far this season with seven goals each so far, with both on target in the recent 3-3 draw at Doncaster Rovers Belles. Walker is excited to keep the partnership with Magill going, and says the duo are ready to help fire Everton back to WSL 1. “It’s great for Simone and for the team that she is staying,” she said. “Her goals in the Spring Series are having a massive impact and have helped us do really well. “I love working with her and she is a great player to combine with. We work off each other really well, so I am really happy to see Simone sign that contract. I’m happy for her too because she is being rewarded for the hard work that she puts in. “We compliment each other on the pitch, and while we have worked on that partnership in training, it has come quite naturally. Both of us have played in that centre forward role but our styles of playing it are completely different. But we gel really well and we don’t try and do the same things. That provides a lot of options for our midfielders and our full-backs. “We know there will be pressure on both of us to score the goals to get us back up to WSL 1. But as forwards, we thrive on that pressure.” It’s not just on the pitch that Magill’s influence is felt. It won’t just be Walker who is pleased to see Magill staying at the club. “Simone is a big character off the pitch as well,” she added. “She is very funny and a great person to have around. “She is very supportive on the pitch as well, and that’s the main thing for me – just how positive she is. She is always there to give you a helping hand whenever you need it.”
