Young Blues Eliminated From LSCA young Everton side bowed out of the Liverpool Senior Cup after Sam Wilkie's first-half header handed Litherland Remyca a 1-0 quarter-final win. Despite the disappointing result, the Toffees started brightly against their hosts, with Daniel Bramall, David Henen, Bassala Sambou and Alex Denny all going close to opening the scoring in the early stages. But 15 minutes before the half-time interval - and against the run of play - Remyca broke the deadlock. The Blues failed to clear Colin Quirk's deep corner, before Stephen King's cross was eventually headed home by Wilkie. David Unsworth's side rallied well to falling behind and went close to equalising just before the break. Captain for the evening Morgan Feeney connected perfectly with Bramall's cross from the right - but Remyca goalkeeper Sean Lake pulled off a fine reaction save to deny the centre-back. The majority of the second period was played in Litherland’s half - but the Blues struggled to find a way past a stubborn backline. The best chance of the half fell to striker Sambou but he could only drag his effort wide of the post after being sent clear by Denny. Litherland Remyca: Lake, Connor, Lowe, Wilkie, King, McConchie, Whewell, Gannon, McDonald, Quirk, Ryan. Substitutes: Cato, Flynn, Boyle, McGrane, Foley. Everton: Hilton, Yates, Foulds, Kiersey, Feeney, Denny, Henen, Broadhead, Sambou, Byrne, Bramall. Substitutes: Hunt, Moore, Harrington, Scully, Morris.
