From City CentreThe easiest method of accessing The Britannia from Stoke town centre is on foot. You can use the footpaths along the bridge over the A500, which leads to the Incinerator access road. That links up with the footway/cycle way (and the bridge over the canal and railway line) to the stadium.
You can also join the footway from the towpath which runs along the Trent and Mersey canal. Another option is to cycle or walk from Heron Cross (Grove Road) and Hollybush (Highfield Drive) to the stadium.
Shuttle buses depart from Glebe Street in Stoke town centre. From here they run to the stadium at regular intervals and this is a handy option for anyone arriving into Stoke by train. Buses depart from near St. Peters Church.
By Rail Stoke-on-Trent station is situated on the West Coast Main line and provides easy access from Manchester, Birmingham, Crewe, Derby and London. Supporters arriving by train on a match day can take a two minute walk to Glebe Street in Stoke where buses run to the stadium at regular intervals.
By BusThere are a number of bus routes that run through Trentham Lakes and on past the Britannia Stadium. Wardles Transport run the ‘Plumline’ and bus route 500. Bakerbus operates bus route 350. From Stoke railway station, the journey by Plumline bus takes around 15 minutes.
STADIUM The away end is located in the South Stand. This is currently known as the Marston’s Pedigree Stand. The away turnstiles face a car park, which is just in front of a large roundabout that links Stanley Matthews Way and Dennis Violett Avenue.
There are also several car dealerships around the edges of the roundabout. The club shop is a useful landmark as you approach along Stanley Matthews Way. It is located at a corner of the stadium, in between the Q-Railing (Main) Stand and the Marston’s Pedigree (South) Stand. Walk through the green access gates, located outside the shop, and you will find the away turnstiles just in front of you, on the left hand side.
Everton Supporters will be seated in the Marstons Pedigree (South) Stand, turnstiles 45-50.
Pedestrians can also join the footway from the towpath which runs along the Trent and Mersey canal. Another route is to walk or cycle from Heron Cross (Grove Road) and Hollybush (Highfield Drive) to the stadium.
At two miles, it’s quite a walk from Stoke station, so if you are on foot allow a good half-hour or more to get to the stadium.
The Britannia Stadium is controlled under a Traffic Management Order on event/match days.
Supporters arriving should follow the instructional signage and comply with the instructions of Traffic Marshalls and Stewards.
FOOD AND RERESHMENTSA few restaurants and pubs are placed close to Britannia Stadium. Food and drink is also available inside the ground.
SAFETY ANNOUNCEMENTEverton Football Club does not condone the use of pyrotechnics whatsoever those found using them either home or away will be subject of action by the Club and the Police. Being convicted of using them could also result in a jail sentence that is how seriously the matter is being treated by courts across the country. As a Club we would also impose an indefinite ban on anyone caught using pyrotechnics. Apart from the risk of a ban or conviction the devices have a serious effect on others, particularly those with breathing difficulties and the disabled in wheelchairs who cannot easily get away from the smoke.
During the season 2015/16, we have noticed an increase of persistent group “bouncing”, culminating in beer being thrown in the air. This has happened on both home and away concourses and would stress has only involved a very small minority of fans.
This has resulted in both the Club and the Police receiving complaints from supporters who have become soaked in beer. As we are sure you will agree this is anti-social behaviour and people should not have to put up with this. As a consequence, both the Club, Merseyside Police and supporter’s groups have discussed how this should be addressed.
Firstly, both the Club and the Police want to make it clear that we want ALL our supporters to enjoy their day and we understand that this may include singing and an element of “bouncing” as a group.
However, a decision has been made that should home or away fans participate in the throwing of alcohol in any area of the stadium, they will be dealt with by Match Day Stewards with the full support of Merseyside Police Officers. This could culminate with an ejection from the ground or potentially an arrest, dependent on the specific circumstances.
This season, you will see more stewards and Police Officers on the concourse, who will provide early advice should a situation look like it is getting out of control.
Please continue to enjoy the match but we ask that you also consider other supporters and how they will be affected by your behavior and we ask for your support in this.
Thank you.
