Tierney joined Everton in 2019 and had progressed to become one of the standout defenders in Leighton Baines’ Under-18s, before progressing to the Under-21's.

On Thursday 6th July 2023, Everton central defender Jack Tierney signed his first professional contract, agreeing a two-year deal until the end of June 2025.

A lifelong Evertonian and Season Ticket Member at Goodison Park since the age of five, Tierney recalled "I remember my first game, we were getting beat and it was late in extra time. Leighton Baines had a free-kick, and my dad says, 'If he misses this, we’re going.' I always remember how he put it in the top corner. That feeling will stay with me forever."

"We won on penalties and went through. It’s my first memory of watching Everton. That was the first day that I knew what it felt like to be an Evertonian. The feeling of winning."

Tierney was eager to thank those who have helped him along the way in reaching this landmark moment, including Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines.

“It’s been great working with him and his staff because of how experienced he is,” he said.

“He’s always been in a situation that you need to know about, his little tips from such a great career. It can just give you that fighting edge over your opposition.”

While focusing on his personal growth off the pitch, Tierney added: “The Academy has helped mature me to become more self-disciplined and just understand the attitude you need; all aspects of your life that are important in and out of football, as well as being a better person in general."

Contracted until: June 2025.
