Alan Kelly is a former professional Goalkeeper, who started his career at Preston North, playing 142 League games for the club.

He then joined Sheffield United in July 1992 for a sum of £150,000 and would go on to make 213 appearances.

In the 1997-1998 FA Cup Quarter Finals, he saved penalties from Dion Dublin, Simon Haworth and David Burrows to help his side progress to the Semi Finals.

In 1999, Kelly signed for Blackburn Rovers, making 39 appearances, and also spent time on loan at Stockport County and Birmingham City.

He made more than 470 appearances in all competitions at club level, and earned 34 caps for the Republic of Ireland, before retiring from football in 2004.

After spending time coaching in the United States at various academies during 2006, he returned to the UK, and spent 18 months at Preston North End's Centre of Excellence.

He became Preston's new goalkeeping coach in 2011 following the appointment of David Unsworth as Caretaker Manager, and Alan remained at Preston until 2017, coaching Jordan Pickford amongst others.

He joined Everton in October 2017, again linking up with David Unsworth, during Unsworth's spell as Everton Caretaker Manager, and remains at Everton still.
